Here are areas to be affected by ECG’s planned maintenance today

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a series of planned and unplanned power outages affecting parts of the Accra West, Accra East, Tema and Ashanti South regions on Thursday, May 28, 2026.

According to notices issued by the company, the interruptions are a combination of scheduled maintenance works and ongoing fault-related challenges that began on Wednesday, May 27.

In the Accra West Region, planned maintenance will result in power outages from 9:00am to 5:00pm in Abease, Achiama, Obeyeyie, Ayikai Doblo and nearby communities. ECG said the exercise is intended to improve service delivery in the area.

The Accra East Region will also experience a scheduled outage within the same period, affecting North Dzorwulu, parts of GIMPA, New England, Obediben, Aseidu Nketia Junction, Gravel Pit, Oyarifa and surrounding areas.

In the Tema Region, planned maintenance works will take place from 10:00am to 4:00pm, affecting Santor, Jordan City, Aunty Kate, Agbeshie Laryea, Nelplast, Kubekro, Level 400, Ashaiman New Town, Jericho, Communities 19 and 20, Awudu Issaka, St Bakhita, Sun City, Tema Women’s Hospital, Raphael Medical Center, Community 11, Gyan Towers and adjoining communities.

Meanwhile, ECG is also dealing with several unplanned outages caused by infrastructure and network faults.

In the Accra West Region, a burnt high-tension pole at Sakaman has disrupted power supply to areas including Stanley Owusu, Mallam Market, Zoomlion, Blues Lagoon, Sakaman Methodist and surrounding communities. ECG said engineers are working to repair the fault and restore electricity supply.

The Tema Region has also been affected by two separate upstream faults. The first has disrupted supply to Yilo Krobo, Lower Manya Krobo, Akrade, Senchi, Atimpoku, Asutsuare, Golden Exotics, Volivo, Osuwem, Juapong, Akwamufie, Frankadua, Nudu, Kisifui, Apeguso, Volo, Anum, Boso, Mpakadan, Okwenya and several adjoining communities.

The second fault has affected Mobile, Afienya, Greenhouse Enclave, Apollonia City, Katamanso, Promised Land, Elegant Homes, TOR Estates, Emmanuel Estates, Michell Camp, Tema International School, Don Bosco, Bethlehem, White Estates, Community 22, Ashaiman Circuit Courts, Dawhenya, Prampram, Central University, Miotso, Devtraco, Christian International School, Dodowa Switching Station and surrounding areas.

In the Ashanti South Region, a network fault has caused outages in Nyade, Asarekrom, Abrensi, Nsiana and nearby communities. ECG said technical teams are working to rectify the situation.

The company apologised for the inconvenience caused and assured customers that efforts are underway to restore power as quickly as possible. ECG also advised customers in areas affected by the planned maintenance to make alternative arrangements for power-dependent activities during the outage periods.
