The Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG) has announced the passing of a Ghanaian prospective pilgrim in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the ongoing Hajj pilgrimage.

In a press release issued on Friday, May 22, 2026, PAOG confirmed that Mr. Musah Sidi, 53, collapsed while performing Tawaf at the Haram in Makkah and passed away shortly afterwards.

According to the statement, Tawaf is the sacred ritual in which pilgrims walk around the Holy Kaabah as part of the Hajj rites.

The office disclosed that the family of the deceased has officially been informed, while preparations are underway for Janazah prayers after Jummah prayers before his burial.

PAOG noted that in Islamic tradition, dying while performing acts of worship during Hajj is regarded as a blessed end for a Muslim believer.

“Passing away while performing Tawaf is considered a profound blessing and a sign of a beautiful ending for a blessed Muslim,” portions of the statement read.

The office further explained that pilgrims who die in a state of worship and Ihram are believed to receive immense spiritual honor in the hereafter according to Islamic teachings.

PAOG expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family, sympathizers and loved ones of the deceased.

The statement was signed by Mohammed Amin Lamptey, Director of Communications for the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana.
