Ghana has officially launched the Ghana House initiative ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, with the formal press event held in Accra. The project is designed to showcase Ghana beyond the sporting arena, turning the Games into a platform to promote Ghanaian culture, tourism, and business opportunities to a global audience.

Ghana House at Glasgow 2026

Ghana House will operate as a national pavilion within the larger Africa Town Pavilion in Glasgow, where it is expected to host cultural displays, business networking sessions, and tourism promotions. The space will be used to connect Ghanaian entrepreneurs, creatives, and investors with international partners, leveraging the projected 2.5 million visitors to the Africa Town complex. The initiative is a collaboration between the Commonwealth Association of Ghana, the Ghana Olympic Committee, and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

Preparing for the Games

Speaking to JoySports, Team Ghana’s Chef de Mission, Ernest Danso, revealed that preparations are already underway, with boxers and other athletes in camp as the country targets strong performances. Danso emphasised that Ghana House will help project the nation positively, saying it is “to project Ghana, our Ghanaian culture, and tourism” on the world stage.

Sport‑driven visibility

Sports Minister Kofi Adams has underlined that Ghana’s on‑field performance will be key to the success of Ghana House. “The greatest traffic to Ghana House will be driven by our performance. When our athletes shine, Ghana shines,” he said, linking medal success to higher interest in the country’s cultural and investment offerings. The 2026 Commonwealth Games run from July 23 to August 2, 2026, giving Team Ghana and the Ghana House team roughly 80 days to fine‑tune both sporting and promotional plans.

A broader national project

Far from being just a sports‑support structure, Ghana House is framed as a multidimensional national project: part cultural showcase, part trade and investment corridor, and part nation‑branding exercise. Officials hope that if well executed, it will not only boost Ghana’s profile during the Games but also open doors for long‑term partnerships, exports, and tourism growth in the years that follow.
