Asante Kotoko SC will be under young Ghanaian trainer Hamza Obeng for the rest of 2025/26 league season, following the departure of coach Prince Yaw Owusu.

Obeng, who is the head coach of Asante Kotoko SC youth team and doubled as assistant two to the first team has being elevated to the role of interim manager. This became necessary, when Prince Owusu ( first assistant coach) abandoned his role after weeks of stepping into the shoes of Abdul Karim Zito (then head coach).

Coach Hamza Obeng who will lead the Reds to their Premier league game against Dreams FC this weekend has described his new role as a big opportunity and one he has to ensure the club regains it spirit despite fallen short to the league title.

The Porcupine Warriors will travel away to Dreams FC in Kasoa to face them in their Week 31 clash.

Kotoko in their last five league matches, only boost of one win, one draw, and three defeats. A record Hamza Obeng will be looking to overturn with five matches to end campaign.

“Well it is a big opportunity for me and I need to take everything out and then bring all what I can do to board so that I will try everything out and bring everything to board. So that I can manage everything the way whereby we are going to get good results,” he told AKSC Media.

Dreams head into the fixture in stronger form, with three wins, one draw, and one defeat in their last five matches.
