Ghana and Zambia have taken a step toward deepening collaboration in digital transformation and innovation.

This follows a high-level meeting between the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, with a visiting Zambian delegation.

The delegation, led by Zambia’s Minister for Technology and Science, Felix C. Mutati, met with Ghanaian officials on Monday as part of a series of engagements aimed at strengthening cooperation in technology-driven economic growth.

The visit features a packed itinerary, including policy dialogues, regulatory meetings, and Business-to-Business (B2B) sessions designed to unlock cross-border opportunities.

Speaking during the meeting, Mr George emphasised Ghana’s readiness to collaborate, noting that key institutions had been mobilised to engage the Zambian team.

These include the Bank of Ghana, National Communications Authority, National Information Technology Agency, Cyber Security Authority, Data Protection Commission, Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, and the Office of the Registrar of Companies.

Mr Mutati highlighted the critical role of government in fostering innovation, stating that policymakers must focus on creating an enabling environment that reduces barriers and eliminates bureaucratic constraints.

He further challenged businesses in both countries to take an active role in shaping reforms, urging them to influence policies that promote creativity, innovation, and sustainable growth.

Both ministers expressed optimism that the engagement would not only strengthen economic ties between Ghana and Zambia but also position the two nations as key players in Africa’s rapidly evolving digital transformation landscape.
