Sekondi Diocesan Methodist Health Trust Fund established

Aboadze (WR), April 19, GNA – The Sekondi Diocese of the Methodist Church Ghana, has established a health Trust Fund to meet the growing health needs of the members.  

The Trust Fund, would provide financial assistance to members battling chronic diseases, offer help to affected families to demonstrate the church’s compassion and practical care for the Lord’s sheep. 

The Right Reverend Emmanuel Kwesi Ansah, the Bishop of the Sekondi Diocese announced this at the 65th annual synod of the church held at Aboadze in the Shama District of the Western Region.  

The theme for the synod is “Walking in the Word: Equipped for every good Work.” 

So far, the church has spent some 300, 000, 00 cedis on various surgeries for its members. 

The gender and family life Coordinating office continue to support the female inmates of the Sekondi Prisons. 

In the year under review, the office together with the hospital Chaplaincy spent 75,000 cedis on discharging inmates and patients.  

The Church recorded a numerical growth of 2905 derived from 372 newborn babies, 832 new Sunday school children and 1943 new adult members, adding up to make a total Christian community of 66,142. 

The church recorded an average church attendance of 59.2 per cent, 10,018 participated in the holy communion and 5,254 attended Bible class. 

The Bishop prayed on the members to regularly attend the special needs services of the church.  

The Diocese, the Bishop reported had supported the Essikado and Ekuase Methodist Church roofing, Sentu and Ampansie Basic School with cement, Methodist Senior High school bungalow project, graduation of 51 people from the Methodist entrepreneurship programme. 

There were maintenance works supported by Lay Chairman, Brother Justice Amoh. 

The church also procured a 70KVA plant to promote the work of God.  

The Bishop urged the Church to be more obedient to the things of God, trust in him to continually shed his light and glory upon the church.
