Accra, April 19, GNA — The President of the South East Ghana Union Mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, has urged Christians to let the teachings of Christ reflect in their actions.

Chaplain Colonel (Rtd) Peter Nyarko Duodu, said Christianity must transcend faith to visible action that benefit society.

He was addressing delegates at the inaugural Quinquennial Constituency Meeting of the East Ghana Conference of the Church at Akyem Kukurantumi in the Eastern Region.

Chaplain Duodu tasked churches to strengthen social support systems by providing education, healthcare assistance, and relief to the vulnerable.

Christians should also be ambassadors of peace and stewards of the environment, especially amid growing concerns about pollution and social instability.

Highlighting what he termed “True and Practical Christianity”, Chaplain Duodu emphasised that faith must correspond with moral actions because practical Christianity had the capacity to transform society.

He observed that demonstrating genuine concern for one another could diminish loneliness and help build resilient communities.

“When leaders and citizens are guided by moral values rooted in Christian principles, society becomes more just and trustworthy,” he emphasised.

The four-day meeting brought together delegates from 20 Adventist Districts to deliberate on issues,  including national peace, environmental pollution, church growth, and prosperity.

At the end of the meeting, Pastor Dr. Ernest Ofosu, Chaplain of the Seventh-day Adventist College of Education at Asokore-Koforidua, was elected President of the East Ghana Conference for the next five years.

He succeeds Pastor Dr Samuel Alooh, who served as President for the past 13 years.

The new leadership is expected to steer the affairs of the Conference with renewed focus on spiritual growth, community impact, and effective engagement with national development issues.
