Dreams FC have set up a decisive final against Nations FC in the Ghana FA Cup after grinding out a hard-earned 3-2 victory over Medeama SC in the semifinals, held at the Swedru Stadium on Saturday.
Before this match, Nations FC had triumphed over Aduana FC to secure a place in the final on Friday.
This will be Dreams FC’s second FA Cup final appearance. They previously lifted the trophy in 2023 and went on to enjoy an impressive debut campaign in the CAF Confederation Cup, reaching the semi-finals.
From the opening whistle, both sides showed clear intent, fully aware of what was at stake. Dreams FC struck first, asserting early dominance in the 23rd minute when Kelvin Ahiable found the back of the net.
Dreams doubled their advantage just 12 minutes later, with Suraj Seidu capping off a flowing attacking move in the 35th minute to give his side a commanding 2â0 lead and put Medeama on the back foot. At that stage, Dreams looked in controlâbut Medeama had other ideas.
On the brink of halftime, Medeama clawed their way back into the contest. Prince Owusu struck in added time (45+2’), halving the deficit and shifting momentum just before the break. The goal proved crucial, breathing life into Medeama’s hopes heading into the second half.
The restart brought immediate fireworks. Medeama emerged energized and were rewarded in the 48th minute when Richard Appiah leveled the score at 2â2. Within minutes, Dreams’ comfortable lead had evaporated, and the game was suddenly wide open.
However, Dreams FC demonstrated resilience and championship mentality. Refusing to buckle under pressure, they responded decisively in the 55th minute, when veteran forward John Antwi produced a clinical finish to restore the lead at 3â2âultimately delivering the decisive blow.
The remainder of the match was tense, with Medeama pushing relentlessly for another equalizer. Dreams FC, however, held firm defensively, showing discipline and composure under sustained pressure. Their backline, combined with smart game management in the closing stages, ensured they preserved their slender advantage until the final whistle.
