The news: Perenti has secured a six-month extension to its mining services contract through its subsidiary, African Mining Services (AMS), at AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem gold mine in Ghana, along with the sale of the AMS mining fleet.

The context: The contract, valued at approximately $95 million and extended by 6 months from 17 July, will task AMS with providing surface mining and related services at the Iduapriem site located in western Ghana.

Once the contract term ends, the majority of the equipment owned by AMS on the site will be sold to AngloGold Ashanti, with proceeds valued at between $30 million and $40 million.

What they said: “The AMZ team is justifiably proud of the performance delivered at Iduapriem over the last 8 years and remains committed to delivering the same professional services until the handover of operations,” Perenti president of contract mining Gabrielle Iwanow said.

“As growth options continue to emerge, contract mining is exceptionally well positioned for the future,” she added.
