Renowned broadcaster and media entrepreneur Nat Kwabena Adisi, popularly known as Bola Ray, has been honoured with the African Media Icon Award at the 2026 African Heritage Awards, held on Saturday in Accra.

The prestigious continental ceremony, organised by the Heritage Times and convened by Moses Siasia, brought together influential leaders and achievers from across Africa.

The event also hosted the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, as the Special Guest of Honour.

The African Heritage Awards celebrate distinguished Africans who have demonstrated outstanding excellence in leadership, entrepreneurship, media, governance, humanitarian service, and cultural advancement.

The 2026 edition, hosted in Ghana for the first time, highlighted individuals shaping Africa’s narrative and impact globally.

Accepting the award, Bola Ray reflected on his nearly three-decade journey in the media industry.

“What an incredible journey. Next year will be 30 years since I got into the media as a student on campus, and it’s been a wonderful one.”

He expressed gratitude for the honour, explaining that it represented more than a personal milestone.

“Tonight, I am deeply honored to receive the African Media Icon Award. This recognition is not just for me, but for every storyteller, every voice, every dreamer in the African media and beyond.”

Bola Ray paid tribute to the impact of media on the continent, stressing its role in shaping perspectives and inspiring change.

He dedicated the award to his team, including past colleagues and the current workforce at EIB Network.

“I dedicate this award to my incredible team that I’ve worked with over the years, and of course, to the team at EIB Network, handling, managing, directing, coordinating seven radio stations and two TV stations, not just in Ghana, but globally.”

He also acknowledged the unwavering support of his wife, Dorcas, and his family.

A Night That Celebrated the African Story

Bola Ray ended his speech with a reaffirmation of his mission to elevate African narratives on the world stage.

“To God be the glory for the great team that I have and everyone out there supporting to elevate the African story to the world stage.”
