The National Association of Nigerian Students has lauded Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji for executing projects that positively impact the development of students and youths.

NANS South-West Treasurer, Femi Asaolu, who said Oyebanji’s projects, programmes and policies were changing Ekiti landscape and making the state epicentre of development, expressed the students body’s support for Oyebanji’s second term ambition.

Asaolu, according to a statement made available in Ado Ekiti on Friday, spoke during a NANS leadership tour of projects executed by the Oyebanji administration.

Major projects inspected by NANS, According to him, included facilities at Ekiti State University; ICT Centre at Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, School of Nursing; the ongoing 80-bed modern hospital at EKSUTH, the 18kms Ado Ekiti Ring Road phase 1; the Ekiti Cargo International Airport; the ongoing 1.2km Ado Ekiti flyover bridge; and the Ekiti Revenue House; among others.

He said that the tour, which brought together student leaders from across the state, was designed to provide first-hand insight into the infrastructural and developmental projects executed by the state government.

Asaolu said, “These projects and others directly benefit students and young people, improve learning conditions and overall welfare. We appreciate the governor for the visible and impactful strides recorded so far by the administration. “

The student leader paid tributes to what he called “the governor’s prudent management of resources. This becomes apparent when you compare the quantum and standards of projects executed to the revenues that accrued to the state in the last three and a half years.

“We reaffirm the collective support of students in Ekiti State for Governor Oyebanji’s re-election. Continuity in leadership is essential to the sustenance of the pace of development and achieving even greater progress in the years ahead”.

Also speaking, a former NANS South-West Coordinator, Taiwo Owolewa, who said the tour was aimed at assessing the progress of projects executed by the Oyebanji administration, said, “Seeing is believing, we are out to see what our governor is doing and to understand why Ekiti people should continue to support him”.

Owolewa noted that the ongoing Ado Ekiti flyover project would bring significant economic and transportation benefits to residents, saying “This project will add value to the state and ease transportation for residents. When a governor can envision and execute projects like this, it shows leadership with foresight”.

Owolewa described the ongoing 800-bed hospital project at EKSUTH as evidence of the administration’s commitment to improving public health, saying, “This is another important project by Governor Oyebanji. The state government is performing remarkably in the health sector.

“I have not seen such a project in many state-owned facilities across Nigeria. It clearly shows a commitment to the well-being of the people,” the former NANS South-West Coordinator said.

In his remarks, the immediate past president of Female Students, Temiloluwa Oluwakayode, described the governor as “a visionary leader who prioritises both present needs and future development. He has performed excellently well and this is more reason for us to vote for him so that the ongoing projects will be completed”.

The NANS leader in Ekiti State, Michael Oluwaseun, while lauding the governor for the 18 km Ado Ekiti Ring Road, described it as “a critical infrastructure aimed at improving traffic flow and enhancing urban renewal policy of the current administration, while the reconstructed urban and rural roads will enhance smooth movement of persons, goods and agricultural products”.

Oluwaseun praised the governor for fulfilling his promises to the academic community, saying, “When you talk about subvention, bursaries and support for students, the Oyebanji administration has shown commitment.”

The President of the Students’ Union Government of the College of Nursing Sciences, Ado Ekiti, Omotowoji Moyinoluwa, praised the government for supporting healthcare and education infrastructure.

Moyinoluwa said, “We have visited several project sites and I can attest that the governor has done well. Continuity in governance is important for accelerated development and completion and sustainability of the ongoing projects”.

The NANS team stated that its observation at the primary and secondary schools visited was modern classroom structures and several other impactful projects, which were a deliberate commitment to develop the education sector which has earned Ekiti respect and honour globally”.

Asaolu added that the ring road, which linked major campuses and eased transportation challenges, was also an access to the Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport, a project poised to boost economic growth and global connectivity.

At the YSJ Farms dotted across different locations within the state, the students lauded the government for packaging a programme which was re-engaging and redirecting the youth in agriculture toward youth empowerment and the accomplishment of food security status.

Oyebanji, whose four-year tenure is billed to end on October 15, 2026, is seeking a second term through the governorship election of the state billed for June 20, 2026, under the banner of the All Progressives Congress, where he is the candidate for the poll.
