The Christian Council of Ghana has called on Ghanaians to reflect on the true meaning of Easter by embracing sacrifice, forgiveness and integrity for national development.
In its Easter message issued on Good Friday, April 3, 2026, the Council urged Christians to reflect deeply on the suffering and crucifixion of Jesus Christ, describing the cross as the ultimate symbol of sacrificial love and victory over sin.
The statement recalled the pain, betrayal and suffering Christ endured at Calvary, emphasizing His words of forgiveness and obedience, including “Father, forgive them” and “It is finished,” as the foundation of the Christian faith. The Council stressed that the Easter story presents key moral values essential for Ghana’s progress, particularly the need for selflessness. It encouraged both leaders and citizens to put national interest above personal gain and work towards the common good.
On national unity, the Council highlighted the importance of forgiveness and reconciliation, urging Ghanaians to overcome ethnic and political divisions and promote peace and cohesion.
It also called for a renewed commitment to integrity, cautioning against corruption and dishonesty. The statement emphasized that moral uprightness must guide both public and private conduct to preserve the significance of the Easter message.
The Council concluded by urging citizens to allow the message of the cross to shape their character and actions, noting that a society grounded in Christian values would foster responsible leadership, justice and shared prosperity.
The message was signed by Cyril Fayose, who wished all Ghanaians a peaceful and meaningful Easter celebration.
