Four suspects arrested in Offinso narcotics operation

The Ghana Police Service has arrested four suspects in an intelligence-led operation linked to a narcotics-related crime in the Ashanti North Region.

The suspects, identified as Albert Nkrumah, 21; Francis Owusu, 25; Gyimah Emmanuel, 24; and Theophilus Amoabeng, were all arrested on March 26, 2026, according to a police statement.

Police said two of the suspects, Albert Nkrumah and Francis Owusu, were later identified by a patrol team through an identification parade as part of a group that fled the scene of the incident on March 25.

On March 26, the police secured a court order from the Offinso Circuit Court, presided over by Her Honour Christiana O. Bruce Ashirifie, directing the National Identification Authority (NIA), Electoral Commission (EC), and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) to provide relevant details to support ongoing investigations.

Subsequently, on March 30, suspects Albert Nkrumah and Francis Owusu were arraigned before the Offinso Circuit Court and remanded into police custody. They are expected to reappear in court on April 27, 2026.

Police said investigations are ongoing and have already identified additional individuals believed to be connected to the crime.

“The suspected narcotic substances will be forwarded to the Forensic Laboratory, CID Headquarters, Accra, for analytical examination and report,” the statement said.

The Ashanti North Regional Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to combating drug trafficking and ensuring public safety, urging the public to support law enforcement efforts by providing credible information to help clamp down on criminal activities in the region.
