Why Can’t Pastors Lead Protest To Aso Rock? – Portable Reacts To Jos Killings

Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, also known as Portable, has criticized pastors in the country following a recent attack on Christians in Jos, Plateau State.

Naija News reports that the incident, which happened on Palm Sunday, involved suspected armed militants and has renewed public anger over claims that Christians are being targeted in parts of Nigeria.

Reacting to the development, Portable, in a video on his Instagram page, expressed disappointment over what he sees as silence from church leaders.

He questioned why pastors have not taken stronger actions or spoken out more forcefully despite repeated reports of violence affecting their followers.

The singer also faulted religious leaders for focusing on their personal safety while members of their congregations face danger.

He argued that pastors should be more active in defending their followers and should consider leading public demonstrations to draw attention to the killings.

He went further to compare the situation with how other religious groups might respond if faced with similar attacks, suggesting that the reaction would be different and more forceful.

He said: “Why are Nigerian pastors not fighting for Christians? They use bulletproof cars yet their followers are dying. Why can’t pastors lead protest to the Aso rock? You can’t harm a Muslim and there won’t be chaos. If you kill a traditionalist, there will be crisis. But if you kill a Christian, the pastor will look away and being enjoying in his car.”
