The Bet9ja Foundation ScaleUp Business Accelerator is now open for applications, offering early-stage Nigerian businesses the opportunity to access funding, mentorship, and structured support to scale sustainably.

Designed as the foundation’s flagship entrepreneurship programme, the accelerator targets high-potential startups and SMEs across Nigeria, helping them grow through non-dilutive funding, expert guidance, and access to markets and investors.

Successful applicants will receive up to ₦3 million in grant funding, alongside participation in a 10-week accelerator programme. Participants will also compete in a final pitch challenge, where one outstanding business will win an additional ₦2 million grant.

Programme Overview

The ScaleUp Business Accelerator is focused on empowering founders with the tools and resources needed to build scalable and impactful businesses.

Selected startups will benefit from:

  • Non-dilutive grant funding of up to ₦3 million
  • Additional ₦2 million grant for the pitch challenge winner
  • Structured 10-week accelerator programme
  • Access to experienced mentors and industry experts
  • Exposure to investors, partners, and new markets
  • Entry into a growing network of ScaleUp alumni

Only 10 startups will be selected per cohort, ensuring personalised support and close mentorship.

Eligibility Criteria

Businesses must:

  • Be registered in Nigeria (CAC or Business Name)
  • Have operated for at least 6 months
  • Be generating revenue
  • Show traction (customers, revenue, pilots, or partnerships)
  • Demonstrate strong scalability potential

Founders must:

  • Be Nigerian citizens or legal residents
  • Be between 22 and 40 years old
  • Be actively involved as founders or co-founders
  • Commit fully to the 10-week programme

Startups across all industries are welcome to apply.

Programme Structure

The accelerator runs for 10 weeks and is primarily virtual, with some optional in-person sessions in Lagos. The programme includes:

  • Weekly masterclasses
  • One-on-one mentorship sessions
  • Peer learning and collaboration
  • Practical assignments to drive business growth

Participants are expected to commit 4–6 hours weekly. Attendance below 80% may affect grant disbursement.

Application Process

To apply, interested founders should:

  1. Review the eligibility requirements
  2. Prepare necessary documents (CAC certificate or business registration)
  3. Complete the online application form (45–60 minutes)
  4. Upload supporting documents including business plans and financials (PDF format)

Only one application per founder is allowed.

Selection Criteria

Applications will be evaluated based on:

  • Innovation (25%)
  • Business viability (25%)
  • Team strength (20%)
  • Market potential (20%)
  • Social impact (10%)

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews before final selection.

Key Dates

  • Application Deadline: April 30, 2026 (11:59 PM WAT)

Early application is strongly encouraged as admissions are reviewed on a rolling basis.
