Personnel from the Eastern Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service are currently fighting a raging fire which occurred as a result of an accident involving a fuel tanker on the Koforidua-Mamfe stretch.

It is unclear how the accident occurred, which led to the tanker going up in flames but according to the Fire Service who have commenced investigations into the unfortunate incident, no casualty has been recorded yet.
This situation has caused a massive gridlock on the stretch as travelers moving from Accra to Koforidua and vice versa have been left stranded due to the blaze, which has engulfed the whole area.

The Eastern Regional Public Relations Officer for the Ghana National Fire Service, DOIII Ignatius Kwamena Baidoo who confirmed the incident to Citi News, has cautioned motorists to use alternate routes as personnel work to douse the fire and bring it under control.
