2026 FIFA World Cup: Former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Danlad anticipate better campaign from Black Stars

Former Asante Kotoko SC shot-stopper Danlad Ibrahim believes Ghana has the potential to excel at the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be co-hosted in USA, Canada and Mexico mid this year.

The West African country will be making their fourth appearance at the global showpiece with huge expectations and reputation. Ghana’s last appearance at the Mundial was Qatar 2022 but was abysmal after finishing 3rd in group stage.

With this, many expect the Black Stars to show up well prepared to exhibit high profile football for qualification from the group phase.

Ahead of the Mundial, Danlad Ibrahim has anticipated the Black Stars showing up in style with enigmatic performance and one to uplift the name of the country and the players.

“Every qualified team has the potential to make history, and Ghana is no different”, he told 3Sports.

“The team just need our support, prayer and encouragement for every player who earns a spot in the final squad”

“I am very confident the team will make both Ghana and themselves proud”, the Coffee FC first choice glovesman said.

The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L, where they will face Panama in their opening fixture on June 17. A heavyweight encounter with England follows on June 23, before Ghana conclude their group-stage campaign against Croatia on June 27.

Ghana, meanwhile has three pre-world cup friendlies coming up against Austria, Mexico and Germany to serve as preparatory matches for the team.
