A video of the late Eric Antwi Duku, reported to have led a criminal car-snatching syndicate known as the Duku gang, has resurfaced, in which he is heard detailing the business ventures he was previously involved in.

In the said video sighted by GhanaWeb on Monday, March 2, 2026, Duku stated in the interview that he had previously been engaged in the transportation of petrol but encountered significant setbacks.

“I was into the transport of diesel and petrol from Ghana to Burkina Faso but it got to a point it became tough. I couldn’t rely on it to feed myself and family,” he said.

According to his account, the regulatory challenges and the collapse of his fuel transport venture forced him to abandon the business.

“I had some high-profile persons who supplied us with the petrol but it became illegal at a point so I had to quit,” he stated.

Duku further claimed he conceived the idea to venture into poultry farming but was initially constrained by financial challenges.

He added that with support from family members, he was able to realise the plan and commence the poultry business with 5,000 birds.

“I got the idea to start a poultry farm around the COVID-19 period. I had secured the land but it was left with capital to start. I’ve been in the business for 5 years. I received support as well from family helping me to start with 5,000 birds,” he shared.

Background

Antwi Duku sustained gunshot wounds during a police operation on February 22, 2026, and was later pronounced dead at a hospital, according to the Ghana Police Service.

Items reportedly retrieved from him included a pistol, live ammunition, a tracking device, vehicle documents and a saloon car.

The gang is alleged to have targeted and robbed victims of their vehicles and is further linked by investigators to a violent robbery incident in which the father-in-law of Sammy Gyamfi, GoldBod CEO, was killed.
