The City of Cape Coast, as the ancient capital of Ghana, has experienced collapsed buildings as a result of old-fashioned architectural designs in the metropolis.

Indigenes and stakeholders are calling on city authorities to help pull down some of these buildings, which have become a death trap.

The Ministries block that houses the Ghana Education Service, Controller and Accountant General Department, and Complementary Education is one of such buildings that is on the verge of collapse if urgent action is not taken to relocate occupants to a different place.

Due to the deplorable nature of the building, some departments such as the Ghana News Agency, Information service and the Immigration Service have vacated the premises for different locations.

A visit to the building shows deep cracks, peeling of walls, old cables fallen off, and leakages, leaving staff occupying the building in grave fear and danger, especially when it rains.

According to some staff who shared some perspectives on the trauma they go through, called on the government, through the Central Regional Coordinating Council, to expedite action to put up a modern complex at its allocated site for the Ghana Education Service to enhance quality supervisory education delivery to the region, which is touted as a citadel of education.
