Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu confirms Lumba was buried in his East Legon mansion Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu confirms Lumba was buried in his East Legon mansion

Controversy continues to surround the post-burial of late Highlife singer Daddy Lumba.

On February 25, 2026, some members of the musician’s extended family summoned their family head, Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu, demanding that he disclose where the late singer was buried or risk being dethroned.

Speaking in an interview with Ezra TV on February 26, 2026, Kofi Owusu questioned why those demanding answers were claiming ignorance about the burial site when they had chosen not to attend the singer’s funeral.

However, Kofi Owusu confirmed earlier claims by Afia Schwarzenegger that Daddy Lumba was buried at his residence in East Legon, Accra, in accordance with his dying wish.

The family head insisted that the relatives in question were aware of the burial location and described their claims of not knowing where Lumba was buried as untrue.

‘Show us where you buried Lumba or step down’ – Family warns Abusuapanyin

“If you chose not to attend the funeral because you were upset about the court’s verdict, how can you now claim you don’t know where Daddy Lumba was buried? You can’t skip the funeral and expect to know the burial site. They are lucky that Afia Schwarzenegger made the location of Lumba’s burial known publicly, so saying you don’t know where he was buried is a lie,” he said.

In December 2025, Afia Schwarzenegger disclosed that the late Highlife legend was buried at his East Legon residence, stating that it was his dying wish — a claim now confirmed by Lumba’s family head.

“He was buried at his residence in East Legon, which was his dying wish. Do you know what killed him? He died from a cardiac arrest,” Afia Schwarzenegger said.

Meanwhile, on February 25, 2026, the musician’s extended family held a meeting at Parkoso. The main agenda was to discuss the conduct of the family head amid efforts to remove him from his position.

According to them, Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu failed to follow due process before, during, and after the burial ceremony of Daddy Lumba.

They have therefore given Kofi Owusu until March 11, 2026, to appear before the family elders to respond to their concerns or face possible removal as family head.
