JCS Investments launches sustainable bus stop to promote climate‑conscious infrastructure

Accra, Feb. 27, GNA – JCS Investments Limited has launched a Sustainable Bus Stop initiative to promote environmentally responsible infrastructure and the use of Made-in-Ghana products in the private sector.

The facility, constructed at the company’s premises at Martey Tsuru on Spintex Road in Accra, forms part of efforts to support national climate action goals through practical, small-scale interventions.

Mrs Patricia Safo, Chief Executive Officer of JCS Investments, speaking at the launch, said the project was designed to demonstrate how local businesses could contribute to reducing carbon emissions and advancing circular economy principles.

She said every individual and organisation had a role in protecting the environment, noting that decisions on production, procurement and daily operations had long-term implications for the country’s natural resources.

Mrs Safo said the bus stop was produced largely with Made-in-Ghana materials and executed in collaboration with local artisans to minimise the project’s carbon footprint and stimulate local economic activity.

She said development and environmental responsibility could be pursued concurrently and that the initiative sought to highlight the potential of locally- led, climate-conscious projects.

The Chief Executive Officer said Ghana continued to face environmental challenges, including land degradation and emissions from harmful practices, and called for increased private sector participation in addressing them.

She said policy incentives would encourage companies to adopt climate-friendly practices, reduce carbon footprints and contribute to national sustainability efforts.

Mrs Safo expressed appreciation to partners and artisans who worked on the project, stating that the initiative reflected collective commitment and collaboration.

She urged the public and organisations to adopt environmentally responsible practices and consider the broader impact of their actions on future generations.

The Sustainable Bus Stop is expected to serve as a demonstration project to promote climate awareness, support local industry and encourage similar interventions within the private sector.
