Alhaji Ishaq Kyei Brobbey, an Ashanti Regional Communications Director hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has alleged that some members of the party secretly supported President John Dramani Mahama during the 2024 general election against former Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.

According to him, Dr Bawumia, who contested on the ticket of the NPP, was deliberately targeted by certain individuals within the party to lose the election.

He claimed that these individuals allegedly provided financial support to Mahama to secure victory.

Speaking in an interview shared on social media, Brobbey raised significant concerns about the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 elections, alleging that internal saboteurs played a crucial role in undermining the party’s campaign efforts.

He further claimed that a few days before the elections, he received a call from an old friend who informed him that an NPP member was allegedly distributing money to influence voters either to vote for Mahama or to abstain from voting.

“Some people sponsored Mahama to contest Bawumia. If Asenso is lying, then I am also lying.

“A few days before the elections, I received a call from an old friend who told me that an NPP member was distributing money to influence people either to vote for Mahama or not to vote at all.

“…there is also a gentleman on social media claiming that some NPP members financially supported Mahama to contest Bawumia,” he said.

Dr Bawumia ultimately lost the 2024 presidential election to President John Dramani Mahama.
