A former Mayor of Tamale, Musah Superior, has criticised the performance of the National Democratic Congress government since it assumed office.

According to him, the government’s ‘unsatisfactory’ performance continues to vindicate the New Patriotic Party, suggesting that time is affirming the work done by the party.

Musah Superior suggested that critics who once accused the former government of poor governance may now be recognising its record.

“Vindication they say is in the womb of time. The NPP is vindicated every day due to the unsatisfactory showing of Mahama’s government,” he said in a statement made available to GhanaWeb.

His remarks come amid growing criticisms of the government’s performance across key sectors, including cocoa and energy.

One of the sharpest criticisms has come from the Minority Chief Whip in Parliament, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, who accused the government of failing to properly brief Parliament on the recent reduction of the producer price of cocoa to GH¢2,587 per bag for the remainder of the 2025/2026 crop season.

Speaking on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, Annoh-Dompreh said, “It is interesting and very revealing that when you were doing the haircut, you didn’t remember that there was a House of Parliament. The haircut, the poor cocoa farmer, you didn’t consider it important to come to this House. Suddenly you find it prudent to come to this House. When farmers were crying, our cocoa farmers were crying, you were busily in your office doing engaging haircuts. That way you didn’t find it important to come to this House and make a statement.”

He urged the finance minister to show accountability, stressing that cocoa farmers are demanding legal frameworks to protect the industry from political interference and ensure fair treatment.

“We are tired of the haircuts. He was busily in his office engaging in haircuts enterprise, reducing the price of cocoa anyhow. And now you find your way to Parliament,” he stated.
