Management says the actions seen in the video do not reflect the values of the institution
Authorities of Swedru School of Business (SWEBUS) have formally apologised after a viral video showed some of their students assaulting a student from Obrachire Senior High School, an incident that has sparked public concern.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, the school’s management said it was responding to the recent incident captured in a video circulating on social media, which shows an assault involving some of their students and a student from sister school, Obrachire Senior High School.
The incident, it noted, has caused distress among parents, students and the wider community.
Describing the development as worrying, the school stated, “We are deeply disturbed by this unfortunate incident.”
Management emphasised that the actions seen in the video do not reflect the values of the institution.
“The conduct displayed in the video is unacceptable and does not reflect the values, principles, and standards of discipline upheld by Swedru School of Business,” the statement said.
It further indicated that the behaviour goes against both the school’s Code of Conduct and the rules of the Ghana Education Service.

Reaffirming its stance against violence, the school said, “As an institution committed to academic excellence, character formation, and responsible citizenship, we strongly condemn this act. We do not condone violence or any behaviour that undermines the safety, dignity, and well-being of others.”
Management offered what it described as an “unqualified apology” to key stakeholders, including the Ghana Education Service headquarters, the Central Regional Directorate of Education, the Agona West Municipal Directorate of Education, the management and students of Obrachire Senior High School, the affected student, parents, old students and the general public.
The school also disclosed that it is cooperating with the police as investigations continue.
“Management is collaborating fully with the appropriate security and law enforcement agencies to ensure that due process is followed, as the students involved are currently with the law enforcement agencies. Appropriate sanctions will be applied based on the outcome of ongoing investigations,” the statement said.
Beyond disciplinary action, SWEBUS pledged to strengthen internal systems to prevent similar incidents.
“Swedru School of Business remains committed to strengthening guidance, counseling, and disciplinary measures to prevent any recurrence of such incidents. We will continue to intensify character education and promote a culture of respect, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence among our students and other students,” it stated.
The school appealed for calm, urging the public to allow authorities to complete their work while it remains “dedicated to maintaining a safe and disciplined environment that fosters learning and mutual respect.”
