Judo federation applauds new Ag. IGP Tunji Disu’s appointmen

The President of the Nigeria Judo Federation, Dr. Musa Oshodi, has congratulated the new acting Inspector General of the Nigeria Police Force, Tunji Disu, on his appointment, describing the development as a strong affirmation of professionalism, competence and integrity in national service.

In 2022, while serving as a Deputy Commissioner of Police, Disu made headlines by winning a silver medal at the 33rd US Open Judo Championship in Brookline, Massachusetts, which featured over 500 veteran participants from different parts of the world.

Dr. Oshodi noted that Disu’s elevation reflects his distinguished record of service and leadership within the force, as well as his broader contributions to national development.

“On behalf of the board and the entire family of the Nigeria Judo Federation, I warmly congratulate Mr Disu, who also served meritoriously as a member of our immediate past board, on this well-deserved appointment. The decision by Bola Ahmed Tinubu to entrust this critical office to a core professional is both reassuring and commendable,” Oshodi said in a statement.

“I am confident that his tenure will strengthen public trust, improve operational efficiency and foster deeper community engagement across the force,” he added.

The NJF president further emphasised that strong and accountable institutions remain vital to national progress, noting that effective policing plays a pivotal role in youth empowerment, social stability and the continued growth of sports development in Nigeria.

He expressed optimism that Disu’s leadership would usher in reforms that reinforce discipline, professionalism and citizen-focused policing, while wishing him a successful and impactful tenure in service to the nation.
