PRESEC 1976-Year Group launches 50th Anniversary

Accra, Feb. 23, GNA – The 1976-Year Group of the Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC), Legon, has launched its 50th Anniversary with a thanksgiving service at the school’s Alumni and Mentorship Centre.

The event, held on Sunday, blended worship, reflection, humour, and vision, marking the beginning of a year-long celebration of legacy, unity, and service.

The day began with a pre-launch church service at the school’s Presbyterian Worship Centre, led by the Reverend Anthony Ani, Resident Minister.

Mr Samuel Nkum Tenkorang, President of the group, reminded the alumni of their shared journey from youthful students to accomplished men, emphasising the values of discipline, humility, and excellence instilled in them by the school.

He urged members to give back to their alma mater and society at large in commemoration of their resilience and legacy.

Mr David Odjidja, Headmaster of the school, acknowledged the support of the year group and that of the global alumni.

He noted the challenges they were facing in their over 6,000 student population, including accommodation shortages in classrooms, dormitories, and dining halls.

He said they needed smart classrooms and projectors to match modern teaching trends.

Mr Odjidja said while the government had supplied tablets to students, the absence of projectors in 80 classrooms remained critical.

He added that they needed a staff accommodation, especially with the phasing out of the double-track system by 2027.

Meanwhile, the Group outlined a series of activities and projects to mark the anniversary.

These include renovating the school’s main gate, supporting the school’s e-library and book project, mentorship activities for students, and a heritage trip to Odumase-Krobo, where the school was first established.
