Filmmaker and musician Emmanuel Owusu-Bonsu, popularly known as Wanlov, an alumnus of Adisadel College (Adisco), has recounted some memorable moments from his senior high school days.

Wanlov told Kafui Dey in an interview that aired on February 23, 2026, that his teachers at Adisco were more focused on asserting authority than imparting knowledge.

“I realised that our teachers were more interested in showing power and inflicting harm than imparting knowledge,” Wanlov said.

The member of the “… Boys” duo recalled an incident from form one. He shared that he was sitting in a classroom when a student walked around during class hours.

He noted that the student should not have been moving around and watched curiously as a teacher approached.

According to him, the teacher approached the student and asked why he was not in class. When the boy explained that he was weeding, the teacher reportedly responded that it was “very good.”

Wanlov said that moment sparked an idea. He decided to take advantage of the situation by borrowing five cutlasses and hiding them at various points on campus.

This, he said, allowed him to step out during class hours, visit friends at other schools, and return later, picking up a cutlass from a hiding spot to explain his absence.

“I borrowed about five cutlasses and hid them at vantage points on campus, so I could leave school anytime I wanted, go and hang out with friends, and when I was coming back I would just pick up one of my cutlasses from my vantage point. When someone asked me, ‘Why are you not in class?’ I would say, ‘I’ve been punished,’” he shared.

He further recalled an episode in form three, just before a mock exam. Upon entering one of his classrooms, the teacher was shocked to see him and questioned whether he was even his student, as he had never seen him in class before.

“In form three, before a mock exam, I entered the classroom to write, and he just looked at me and said, ‘Owusu-Bonsu, are you in my class?’” he added.
