American YouTube and Twitch streamer IShowSpeed, real name Darren Watkins Jr, has praised his recent visit to Kenya.

Speed’s Africa tour took him to 20 countries in 29 days, starting from southern Africa and ending in West Africa. However, it was his two-day visit to Kenya on January 11 and 12 that left the biggest mark on him.

In interviews following the trip, Speed described Kenya as the destination that had the greatest impact on his streaming career and his connection with fans.

He recalled the exciting moment when he reached 48 million YouTube subscribers, gaining roughly 360,000 new followers during his Kenya stream.
“I just feel like at that milestone, I felt so loved. In that Kenya moment, I gained about 360,000 subscribers, which was crazy. Kenya showed me so much love, and I really love Kenya. Habari yako to all my Kenyan fans, I love you all,” he said.
The streamer also expressed a strong desire to return to the country in the future.
What did Speed do in Kenya?
Speed began his Kenyan tour at Upper Hill School, where he engaged with students and even met Julius Yego, the javelin champion.
He then experienced Nairobi’s energetic matatu culture, riding in the popular souped-up matatu Syndicate, accompanied by a convoy that included George Ruto’s MoneyFest.
Thousands of fans on motorcycles followed the procession, bringing parts of the city to a standstill.

On the second day, Speed travelled to the Maasai Mara, enjoying wildlife sightings and immersing himself in Maasai culture.
He was even given a Maasai name, Nyangulo and a Kenyan bracelet bearing the Kenyan flag colours.
