The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has closed 16 food service establishments in the Greater Accra Region for operating without valid Food Hygiene Permits.
In a Facebook post sighted by GhanaWeb Business, the Authority listed Alora Beach Resort, The Cheesecake House, Dolce Frizzante, and Onda among the businesses affected.
The FDA stated that the closures aim to safeguard public health by ensuring all food service providers strictly adhere to hygiene and safety standards.
“Two weeks after our notice to the public that, effective 1st February 2026, all food service establishments operating without a valid Food Hygiene Permit would be closed, we have taken action,” part of the post read.
“Today, 16 non-compliant food service establishments in the Greater Accra Region, including The Cheesecake House, Dolce Frizzante, Onda, and Alora Beach Resort, among others, were shut down for failing to meet regulatory requirements. We remain committed to protecting public health and ensuring that all food service providers operate in strict compliance with good hygiene practices,” it added.

This enforcement follows the FDA’s earlier directive mandating the closure of all food-related businesses, including restaurants, lounges, hotels, chop bars, snack bars, food vans, bakeries, event caterers, online food vendors, and institutional canteens, operating without the required permit.
The action is grounded in Section 130(1) of the Public Health Act, 2012 (Act 851), which prohibits the manufacture, sale, supply, or storage of regulated products in unregistered premises.
The FDA clarified that affected establishments will remain closed until they regularise their operations and secure the necessary Food Hygiene Permit.
