Davido, Fans Get Strong Memo From Sophia’s Lawyer Over Intimidation

The law firm representing the babymama of Nigerian Afrobeat singer, Davido, Sophia Momodu, in the ongoing child custody case, has issued a warning to the musician and his fans following a series of public outbursts on social media.

Naija News reports that the warning follows a series of posts on Davido’s social media, expressing frustration over what he described as “insensitive remarks regarding his deceased son” during cross-examination in court.

He wrote, “@belachukwu I disgraced you in the courtroom. I was teaching you your work, you couldn’t even take it and then went on to mention my son… like I said in the courtroom. I pray you never go through what me and my wife have gone through ever… and you were still smilling smirking… You are a wicked human being. You are the worst lawyer ever. I beat you in court! you are not learned.”

Davido also mistakenly involved popular gospel artiste, Tosin Bee, prompting a flood of harassment on the musician’s social media pages.

In a statement released on Monday, Sophia’s legal representatives, Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors, condemned all manner of inflammatory public statements directed at their partner, Ebelechukwu Enedah, arising from her professional conduct in the custody proceedings at a Lagos State court.

The firm stressed that the matter is sub judice and “will be decided by the court alone, on evidence and law,” warning that attempts to intimidate legal practitioners could undermine the rule of law.

The statement reads, “Our attention has been drawn to statements chiefly engineered by a Nigerian Afrobeat artiste, via social media, directed at our partner arising from her professional conduct in a custody matter presently pending before a court of competent jurisdiction in Lagos State.

“If legal practitioners are to be threatened, intimidated, or exposed to harassment outside the courtroom for asking questions, testing evidence, or discharging their professional duty to their clients, then the very foundation of justice is imperilled.”
