Pupils and residents of the Sabegu community have raised concerns over the deteriorating condition of Sabegu D/A Primary School, the only basic school serving the area.
The school, which caters for pupils from Primary One to Six in a three-unit classroom block, is in a state of disrepair, with cracked walls, broken doors and inadequate furniture, severely disrupting teaching and learning.
Due to the poor infrastructure and furniture shortages, some classes have been merged, resulting in overcrowding and reduced instructional time. Pupils say the conditions are negatively affecting their education.
Speaking to Channel One News, some pupils complained that the lack of desks and chairs often forces them to lie on their stomachs to write. They also cited the daily burden of washing their uniforms because of the dusty classroom environment.
Officials of the Ghana Education Service declined to comment on the situation. However, community leaders expressed deep concern and called for urgent intervention, stressing that the children—described as future leaders—deserve better learning conditions.
The Parent-Teacher Association Chairman of Sabegu D/A Primary School, Tuahiru Abu, outlined the numerous challenges confronting the school and made a passionate appeal for immediate support.
Similarly, the Assembly Member for the Sabegu Electoral Area, Amadu Seidu, said repeated efforts to get the appropriate authorities to address the situation have so far yielded no results.

He added that other schools within his electoral area are facing similar infrastructural and logistical challenges.
