The Minister of Interior has reaffirmed the strategic importance of Nigeria’s engagement with Türkiye following his visit alongside President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The visit focused on deepening bilateral cooperation in key areas, including security, migration management, border control, law enforcement capacity-building, and institutional collaboration, while supporting the shared objective of expanding Nigeria–Türkiye bilateral trade to $5 billion.

According to a statement by the Head, Press & Public Relations, Mrs Mary Ali, on Friday, the engagements were driven by clear implementation frameworks, mutual accountability, and measurable outcomes aligned with Nigeria’s national security architecture and economic priorities.

These strategic partnerships are critical to tackling transnational crime, irregular migration, and internal security challenges, while unlocking opportunities in trade, technology transfer, and skills development.

The Government appreciates public engagement and constructive feedback, and remains committed to translating agreements into tangible outcomes that enhance national security, economic growth, and public confidence in institutions. Through sustained diplomacy and responsible governance, Nigeria will continue to secure a safer and more prosperous future.
