By Iddi Yire, GNA Special Correspondent in Lusaka, Zambia

Lusaka, Feb. 04, GNA – President John Dramani Mahama with his wife, Lordina Mahama on Wednesday afternoon arrived in Lusaka, Zambia for a three-day official visit at the invitation of his Zambian counterpart President Hakainde Hichilema.

At the Airport to receive the President was Madam Elizabeth Nyantakyi, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Zambia.

President Mahama touched down at 1305 hours at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka, on board a special aircraft provided by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler of the United Arab Emirate (UAE), after attending the 2026 Global Governance Summit in Dubai, UAE.

For the three days, President Mahama will hold bilateral talks with President Hichilema on matters of mutual interest, including strengthening diplomatic relations, enhancing trade and investment cooperation, and exploring collaborative opportunities within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

A key highlight of the visit would be an address to the National Assembly of Zambia, where he is expected to share Ghana’s vision for a more integrated and prosperous Africa.

He is also expected to lay a wreath at the Embassy Park in honour of Zambia’s falling heroes and meet with members of the Ghanaian community in Lusaka to interact with compatriots living and working in Zambia.

There will also be a Ghana-Zambia Business Dialogue, co-chaired by Presidents Mahama and Hichilema.

The dialogue would provide a Platform for Ghana to showcase its digital technologies and fintech services to Zambian businesses and government institutions, fostering economic partnerships and knowledge exchange between the two countries.

President Mahama’s state visit to Zambia underscores his unwavering commitment to his vision of an Africa that is seamlessly connected through enhanced transport infrastructure, expanded trade linkages, and the free movement of people and goods.

President Mahama’s Delegation include: Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Foreign Affairs Minister; Dr Callistus Mahama, Executive Secretary to the President, Mrs Joyce Bawa Mogtari, Presidential Advisor and Special Aide to the President, and Mr Stan Xoese Dogbe, the Deputy Chief of Staff in-charge of Operations at the Presidency.

Others are Mr Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Presidential Spokesman and Minister in-charge of Government Communications, Mr Haruna Iddrisu, the Minister of Education; Mr Samuel Nartey George, the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, and Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection.
