Lady Ophelia is a Ghanaian gospel artiste
Ghanaian gospel artiste Lady Ophelia has shared a harrowing story of how she was poisoned by a family member who believed she had become wealthy after her music was aired on TV.
In an interview with Neat FM on February 4, 2026, the singer narrated that she fell seriously ill shortly after she performed at a blood donation exercise at El-Wak, which was broadcast live on television.
“I was poisoned after the performance. I remember the date June 25, 2020. My stomach was completely swollen. When I was rushed to the hospital, my blood pressure was 250 over 150. I was blind in one eye, and the remaining eye was colorblind.
“I remember the doctor asking what I did for a living, and my mother said I was a gospel artiste. He then replied that God is behind me. Else I would have died,” she recounted.

She further revealed that the person responsible later confessed to the act. The culprit, she said, was a family member, who came to confess after her mother embarked on a seven-day fast.
“My mother fasted for 7 days. Then the person came to my house to kneel in front of me to confess. The person said she thought I had money after seeing my song on TV and was jealous,” she said.
Despite the ordeal, the gospel musician said she has forgiven the person involved and would keep believing in God for protection.
