In a shocking turn of events during a Serie A clash between Inter Milan and Cremonese on Sunday, February 1, 2026, a fan who threw a firecracker at Cremonese goalkeeper Emil Audero suffered severe injuries, losing two to three fingers when another pyrotechnic device exploded in his hand.

The incident occurred in the stands, where Inter supporters were seated, as authorities confirmed that the fireworks were deliberately aimed at Audero.

The explosion did not only injure the perpetrator but also caused panic among nearby fans.

Reports indicate that before medical help arrived, the man was attacked by other supporters, adding to the chaos.

Italian police have since identified the individual responsible and are expected to place him under arrest following treatment at a Cremona hospital.

Sources say his injuries are serious but not life-threatening.

Inter Milan now faces potential sanctions from the Italian Football Federation, including a heavy fine and a possible ban on away supporters for upcoming matches.

Pyrotechnic incidents have long been a concern in Serie A, and this latest episode underscores the dangers involved.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into how the fireworks were smuggled into the stadium and are reviewing security footage.

Meanwhile, discussions are ongoing about stricter enforcement measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Cremonese officials confirmed that Emil Audero was unharmed.
