Charles Akwesi Asiedu, the Member of Parliament for Tano South and son of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has stirred controversy on social media with a cryptic post.

On January 31, 2026, the NDC lawmaker shared a flyer of his father with the inscription, “Time Aso oooo Time Aso” meaning “The time has come.”

The post quickly attracted attention, with many social media users attempting to decode its meaning.

Several interpreted it as a signal that Asiedu Nketiah may be preparing to contest for the NDC flagbearership after the tenure of President John Dramani Mahama.

Others speculated about potential competitors, mentioning names such as Minister of Education Haruna Iddrisu, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang and Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson.

While some supporters suggested that Asiedu Nketiah could emerge victorious, others argued that different candidates would be better suited to lead the party.

Meanwhile, Asiedu Nketiah, has shed light on the reasons behind his ongoing “Thank You Tour,” which generated speculation within political circles.

Speaking to party executives and members in the Akuapem North Constituency, Asiedu Nketiah recounted the strategic division of responsibilities during the 2024 campaign.

According to him, the national executives created three campaign teams one led by President John Dramani Mahama, another by Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, and the third by himself as National Chairman.

He explained that while President Mahama and Professor Opoku-Agyemang concentrated on the presidential race, he was tasked with steering the parliamentary campaign.

“We realised that the elections had two main fronts the presidential and parliamentary. It was important for President Mahama to focus entirely on the presidential contest, while my team worked to secure parliamentary seats,” he said.
