Former Minister of Finance, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, has declared that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is united and fully prepared to take on the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2028 general elections.

His comments come in the wake of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s decisive victory in the NPP presidential primaries, where he emerged as the party’s flagbearer after securing 56.48 per cent of the total votes cast.

Former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong finished second in the contest with 46,554 votes, representing 23.76 per cent of the ballots.

Speaking to journalists at the party’s national headquarters on Saturday night, January 31, 2026, Dr Amin Adam said the outcome of the primaries has strengthened internal unity and given the party renewed confidence as it prepares for the next national campaign.

“The overwhelming support shown by the delegates is a clear sign that the party is ready and willing to support Dr Bawumia’s leadership,” he said.

According to him, the NPP now has ample time to reorganise and mobilise ahead of the 2028 polls, warning the NDC to expect a formidable challenge.

“In the days ahead, you will see that this party is solid. We have three years to put our house in order and face our opponents,” he added.

Issuing a strong message to the governing party, Dr Amin Adam said, “The NDC should beware. We are coming, and we are coming gallantly.”

His remarks add to growing confidence within the NPP following the primaries, as party leaders and former contenders close ranks behind Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and begin laying the groundworks for the 2028 election.
