Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has described Nigeria’s entertainment industry as a major driver of creativity, employment, and economic growth, while noting its influence both locally and globally.
Speaking during a meeting with leaders of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), the minister praised the sector’s vibrancy and economic relevance.
The TAMPAN led by the President, Otunba Bolaji Amusan, popularly known as Mr. Latin, had honoured Tunji-Ojo as association’s man of the year during its last summit in December, last year.

In a post on his X handle, the Minister said that his engagement with the association’s leadership at his office in Abuja, followed a recent recognition of his work in public service.
The minister emphasized the importance of collaboration between government and creative industry stakeholders to strengthen national development.
Describing entertainment sector as the “dazzling crown jewel” of Nigeria’s economy, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the creative sector, noting its role in talent development and economic expansion.
He said, “Our entertainment industry stands unmatched; the dazzling crown jewel of Nigeria; bursting with unrivaled creativity, infectious laughter, soul-stirring drama, and economic fire that continues to conquer the globe as it brings endless delight to every home.
“I spent most part of the afternoon with the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) led by the President, Otunba Bolaji Amusan, popularly known as Mr. Latin.
“This warm engagement follows the recent honour bestowed on me as the “Man of the Year” during their National Professional and Empowerment Summit, a recognition that deeply appreciates the reforms and service delivery strides in the Ministry of Interior.
“We had fruitful discussions on potential areas of collaboration, as governance remains a collective responsibility among committed patriots and stakeholders.
“Together, we reaffirmed our shared commitment to nurturing and empowering Nigeria’s creative talents through fostering partnerships that drive broader national development.”
In his remarks, Mr Latin applauded the Minister for his transformative initiatives at the ministry, which he said informed the TAMPAN Man of the year award.
“We are very proud of you,” he said.
The TAMPAN President sought his collaboration on movies that will spotlight security measures especially at the border areas in the country.
He also informed the Minister of the planned World Theatre Day in March, 2027 and invited him to grace the occasion.
