Former Awutu Senya East MP, Mavis Hawa Koomson, has vowed to keep the peace at her polling station during the January 31, 2026, NPP presidential primary, despite what she claims are deliberate attempts by opponents to provoke her.

According to a video making the rounds on social media, Koomson, who said she was the polling station supervisor, noted that the process had been smooth so far.

“So far so good, everything is going on well… I am the one supervising the process today. I’m going to make sure that there will be peace at this centre.”

However, she dismissed some people she identified as troublemakers, stating that she had chosen to remain calm, noting that the centre would not be able to “contain” them if she engaged.

“You can see the controversy they’re trying to create here. No matter what they say against me, I will not mind them. Because if I respond, the election centre can’t contain us. So I hope we can advise ourselves.”

On a lighter note, Koomson, who had declared her support for Dr Bawumia, was asked who she voted for, to which she replied, “I came to vote under the camp of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.”

This comes as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) holds its presidential primary on Saturday, January 31, 2026, to elect its flagbearer for the 2028 election.

Five stalwarts of the party, former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Assin Central legislator Kennedy Agyapong, former Minister of Food and Agriculture Dr Bryan Acheampong, former Minister of Education Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, and former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, will be going head-to-head for the party’s flagbearership position.
