The Pakistani High Commissioner to Ghana, Najeeb Durrani, together with Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary responsible for the African continent, Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan, paid a working visit to Ghana’s Ministry of Defence aimed at deepening defence cooperation between the two countries.

The visit, which took place on Thursday, in Accra, focused on strengthening bilateral defence collaboration with discussions highlighting around Pakistan’s advanced military hardware, including drones, fighter jets, and firefighting technology.

Ambassador Khan underscored opportunities for joint training and exchange programmes between the armed forces of Ghana and Pakistan. He further highlighted Pakistan’s broader industrial capacity, citing areas such as cement production and fertilizer manufacturing.

He noted that Ghana could benefit from technical cooperation and knowledge-sharing in these sectors.

Speaking on behalf of the Deputy Minister for Defence, the Acting Judge Advocate General, Brigadier General Benjamin Amoah-Boakye, reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to developing local defence capabilities through the Defence Industries Holding Company (DIHOC) Limited.

He stressed that partnerships of this nature are critical to reducing dependence on imports, improving operational readiness, and building a self-reliant and resilient defence industry for Ghana.
