Former Member of Parliament for the Gomoa Central Constituency, Rachel Appoh
A former Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Rachel Appoh, has called on delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to vote for loyal party members in the upcoming internal elections.
She stressed that loyalty remains critical to the party’s growth and success at all levels.
According to her, party unity and loyalty must be prioritised as the NDC prepares for future electoral contests.
Appoh, who is also a former Member of Parliament for the Gomoa Central Constituency, expressed confidence that the NDC will reclaim the Gomoa Central parliamentary seat in the 2028 general elections.
She said the constituency must unite and work collectively to regain the seat the party lost in the 2012 elections.
She further emphasised that, ultimately, it is the electorate that decides who to vote for in any given election, underscoring the need for party leaders and aspirants to remain connected to the grassroots.
Appoh made these remarks in an exclusive interview on Accra-based CTV’s Oman Ghana Nkosuo Programme, hosted by Yaa Titi on January 20, 2026.
Meanwhile, the party has released its proposed timetable for the 2026 constituency, regional and national party elections.
The proposed timetable sets the stage for what is expected to be a keenly contested internal electoral process, as the NDC positions itself for the 2028 general elections.

Under the constituency elections timetable, nominations will open from Tuesday, September 15, to Thursday, September 17, 2026, followed by one week for the completion of nomination forms.
Filing of nominations is scheduled from Wednesday, September 23, to Thursday, September 24, with vetting taking place from Friday, September 25, to Sunday, September 27.
Appeals will be heard between Tuesday, September 29, and Thursday, October 1, 2026, while constituency elections are slated for Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25, 2026.
For the regional elections, nominations will open on Tuesday, October 6, and close on Wednesday, October 7, with one week allocated for the completion of forms.
Filing for regional elections is scheduled from Wednesday, October 14, to Thursday, October 15, followed by vetting on Friday, October 16, and Saturday, October 17.
Appeals will be handled from Sunday, October 18, to Monday, October 19. Regional youth and women elections will take place on Friday, November 13, 2026, while the main regional elections are scheduled for Saturday, November 14, and Sunday, November 15.
At the national level, nominations will open from Tuesday, October 20, to Wednesday, October 21, 2026, with 14 days allotted for the completion of forms. Filing for national elections will take place from Saturday, November 7, to Monday, November 9, followed by vetting on Thursday, November 12, and Friday, November 13.
Appeals are scheduled from Sunday, November 15, to Monday, November 16. The Youth and Women Conference will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2026, while the National Congress is slated for Saturday, December 19, 2026.
