Police investigate shooting involving female officer at Tetegu Police investigate shooting involving female officer at Tetegu

The Ghana Police Service is investigating a fatal shooting incident involving a policewoman that occurred on January 19, 2026, in Tetegu near Weija in the Greater Accra Region.

The police announced this in a statement issued on January 20, 2026.

“The Ghana Police Service is investigating a shooting incident involving a policewoman that occurred on 19th January 2026 around the Tetegu area near Weija,” it stated.

The police said their preliminary investigations found that a policewoman allegedly shot a taxi driver following a confrontation.

“The driver, who was operating a Hyundai i10 taxi cab was rushed to the Police Hospital for treatment but he was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

“Investigation further indicates that the policewoman was hit by a vehicle and sustained injuries to her head and both legs struck as she attempted leaving the scene. She is currently on admission receiving medical attention”, it noted.

According to the police, exhibits retrieved from the scene include one live 9mm round, a magazine and one empty 9mm cartridge.

“At the scene, police recovered several exhibits, including one live 9mm round, a magazine, and one empty 9mm cartridge”, the post added.
