Frank Davies, lawyer for former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, has taken a swipe at Bernard Mornah, leader of Arise Ghana, over his public accusations against his client describing them as unverified and irresponsible.

In an interview on JoyNews on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, Davies warned against making sweeping allegations without evidence.

Ken Ofori-Atta faces US court over visa revocation, possible extradition to Ghana

“I just listened to Bernard Mornah.. I will urge some of these pronouncements are not made publicly on radio. he should be the last person to be making this as pedestrian comment. It is poor illiteracy, very poor illiteracy to just be saying these kinds of things without any proof”, he lamented.

He added, “You can say whatever you want about a person, an accused person, a suspect, or a person of interest, but until the charges or allegations are proven, you cannot make such wide comments, such wild pronouncements calling the person all kinds of names. If he respects his fundamental human rights, he should respect the rights of others. That’s all I’ll give to him. And caution them that these remarks are uncalled for.”

The comments follow a protest organized by Arise Ghana at the US Embassy in Accra, demanding the immediate return of Ofori-Atta from the United States to face accountability.

Mornah accused the former finance minister of being responsible for Ghana’s economic difficulties, calling the situation an “economic abortion” and claiming, “the premature births that this nation suffered are all the consequences of the policies of Ofori-Atta.”

Mornah further alleged that Ofori-Atta misappropriated public funds through Enterprise Insurance, a company he founded and later transferred to his wife.

Ofori-Atta, who served under the New Patriotic Party (NPP)from 2017 to 2024, has been embroiled in multiple controversies over alleged misuse of public funds.

He is expected to appear before a United States immigration court on Tuesday, 20 January 2026, over alleged immigration violations.
