The newly appointed Board Chairman of Best Assurance, Dr Anthony Aubynn, has pledged the commitment of his new Board to building an insurance brand that will respond rapidly to the needs of the insuring public.

Speaking to newsmen, Dr Aubynn, who leads a 7-member team on the new Board, re-emphasised the mandate of the new Board, which is to spearhead the growth trajectory of the company.

The Board chairman, Dr Anthony Aubynn, is the Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC) and a highly respected corporate leader with decades of experience spanning energy, extractives, public policy, corporate governance, and institutional development.

Dr Aubynn’s appointment brings to Best Assurance a rare blend of

strategic leadership, regulatory insight, and private-sector discipline.

Dr Aubynn, who is also a consummate lawyer, has held several high-profile leadership roles in both the public and private sectors, where he successfully led complex organizations, supervised large multidisciplinary teams, and managed high-value national and commercial projects.

His extensive experience in risk management, stakeholder engagement, and policy-driven institutions is expected to be particularly valuable in guiding Best Assurance within Ghana’s evolving insurance and financial services landscape.

In addition to his executive role at PHDC, Dr Aubynn is widely recognized for his strong corporate governance credentials and his ability to drive institutional reform, operational efficiency, and sustainable growth.

His leadership philosophy emphasizes accountability, innovation, and customer-centric service delivery—key pillars aligned with Best Assurance’s

strategic repositioning.

Speaking to journalists after the announcement, Dr Aubynn pledged the commitment of the new Board to building a strong and responsive insurance brand.

“We will focus on building a strong insurance brand that responds rapidly to the needs of the insured public,” he said.

Adding that the core mandate of the Board is to spearhead the company’s growth trajectory, strengthen governance systems, and enhance market confidence.

The Board has also appointed Robert Wugah as Managing Director,

Effective November 3, 2025, Wugah brings significant industry and managerial experience and will lead the execution of the company’s strategic objectives under the oversight of the Board.

Other members of the Board include Naomi Alabi, James Kwasi Ahiable,

Kwabena Ofori Apeagyei, Professor Chike Frankie Edozien, and Kojo Dougan, all serving as Non-Executive Directors and contributing diverse expertise in business, finance, and academia.

The Executive Management Team comprises Robert Wugah as Managing Director, Kofi Lartey as Deputy Managing Director in charge of Operations, and Margaret Mutumira as Deputy Managing Director responsible for Finance and Administration.

With this leadership structure in place, Best Assurance has entered a new phase of growth aimed at positioning the company as a leading provider of insurance products and services in Ghana.

The company is being strategically repositioned as a brand of choice, underpinned by strong governance, sound financial capacity, and a renewed focus on delivering innovative insurance solutions.

Best Assurance Company Limited is licensed by the National Insurance Commission to operate non-life insurance businesses, including Motor, Fire, Accident, Engineering, Oil & Gas, Marine, and Bonds.
