Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has filed a defamation lawsuit against media personality and musician Abubakar Ahmed, also widely known as Blakk Rasta, seeking GH¢100 million in damages over comments made in a viral video.

According to a statement of claim filed at the High Court in Accra, Shatta Wale is asking the court to declare, as defamatory, statements made by Blakk Rasta in a video titled “SHATTA WALE, SELF-CONFESSED KING OF FRAUD,” which was published on December 15, 2025, on Blakk Empire Media’s social media platforms.

Shatta Wale said that the video, which garnered significant engagement on Facebook and YouTube within 24 hours of publication, contained false and malicious statements that seriously damaged his reputation as a musician and businessman.

The dance hall artiste alleged that in the video, Blakk Rasta described him as a “king of fraud,” a “thief,” and a “sakawa boy,” and accused him of associating with alleged fraudsters and allowing stolen money to pass through his bank accounts.

He further claims that these statements were calculated to portray him as dishonest, morally corrupt, and untrustworthy in the eyes of right-thinking members of society.

The suit states that the comments have caused anxiety to his family, fans, business partners and colleagues in the music industry, and have exposed him to public ridicule and reputational harm.

As part of the reliefs being sought, Shatta Wale is asking the court to order Blakk Rasta to immediately and permanently remove the video and all related defamatory content from his social media platforms. He is also seeking an injunction to restrain the defendant from making or publishing further defamatory statements against him.

Additionally, the plaintiff is demanding a public retraction and an unqualified apology to be published on Blakk Rasta’s social media pages, as well as full-page apologies in the Daily Graphic, Ghanaian Times and Graphic ShowBiz newspapers.

The lawsuit, filed by Robert Smith Law Group and signed by counsel Bobby Banson, insists that unless compelled by the court, the defendant will not retract or apologise and may continue to publish defamatory statements against the musician.

The case is expected to be heard by the High Court in Accra.
