Photos have emerged online showing the Nevada Southern Detention Center, in the US, where former MASLOC Chief Executive Officer Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu is currently being held following her arrest by US Marshals.

The medium-security detention facility in Pahrump, Nevada, operates under the US Marshals Service and is used to hold detainees awaiting court proceedings, including individuals facing extradition.

Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu was arrested on January 6, 2026, acting on an extradition request submitted by Ghanaian authorities in July 2024.

According to a statement signed by Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Emmanuel Victor Smith, on January 15, 2026, he said;

“My information is that she was detained by US Marshals on January 6 and has since been kept at that detention centre. I am reliably informed that acting on an extradition request sent to the U.S. authorities sometime in July 2024, US Marshals arrested Tamakloe-Attionu and placed her in detention to await her day in court.”

In April 2024, a Ghanaian court sentenced Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu to 10 years’ imprisonment with hard labour after finding her guilty on 78 counts, including causing financial loss to the state, stealing, conspiracy to steal, money laundering, and breaches of the Public Procurement Act.

Her co-accused, former MASLOC Chief Operating Officer Daniel Axim, was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment with hard labour.

The offences were committed between 2013 and 2016 and involved the misappropriation of funds meant for MASLOC activities.

The trial, which began in 2019, saw the state call six witnesses.

Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu was tried in absentia after absconding while on court permission to travel abroad for medical treatment.
