The courtesy engagement formed part of SWAG’s continuous efforts to deepen institutional relationships with state agencies responsible for sports development, while promoting dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding in the advancement of Ghanaian sports.

Leading the SWAG delegation was the President of the Association, Mr. Kwabena Yeboah, who was accompanied by the General Secretary, Mr. Charles Osei Asibey, Deputy Secretary Mr. Kenneth Odeng Adade, and Executive Committee Member Ms. Tilda Elinam Acorlor.

The NSA delegation included the Director-General of the National Sports Authority, Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah.

In his welcome address, Mr. Kwabena Yeboah congratulated Dr. Fred Awaah on his appointment as Board Chairman of the NSA and assured him of SWAG’s unwavering support in promoting policies and programmes that will enhance the growth and sustainability of sports in Ghana.

He emphasized the indispensable role of the media in sports development, noting that responsible sports journalism remained a critical pillar in shaping public opinion, advocating for athletes, and holding institutions accountable.

Mr. Yeboah further reiterated SWAG’s readiness to collaborate with the NSA Board and management to ensure that accurate information, transparency, and professionalism continue to guide sports administration and reportage in the country.

He stressed that a strong working relationship between the NSA and SWAG was essential for rebuilding public confidence in Ghana’s sports structures.

The General Secretary of SWAG, Mr. Charles Osei Asibey, highlighted the Association’s long-standing commitment to capacity building, ethical journalism, and constructive engagement with stakeholders.

He noted that SWAG remained committed to playing its role as a strategic partner in national sports development.

Responding, Dr. Fred Awaah expressed profound appreciation to SWAG for the warm reception and described the engagement as timely and significant.

He acknowledged the vital role SWAG has played over the years in promoting Ghanaian sports and shaping narratives that influence policy and public engagement.

Dr. Awaah reaffirmed the NSA Board’s commitment to openness, collaboration, and continuous engagement with the media as part of its mandate to revitalize sports infrastructure and administration nationwide.

The Director-General of the NSA, Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, also underscored the importance of media partnership in the NSA’s developmental agenda, stressing that effective communication and mutual respect between administrators and journalists are key to achieving long-term success.
