The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has announced the repatriation of eight foreign nationals who were convicted for engaging in illegal QNET activities last year.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Commissioner of Immigration, Maud Anima Quainoo, the Service revealed that the individuals, arrested in August 2025 and convicted on September 9, 2025, have completed their six-month custodial sentences at Nsawam Prisons and were subsequently transferred to the GIS Holding Centre in Accra. They remain in lawful custody pending deportation.
The convicted nationals include:
- Alabe Sanga – Burkinabe
- Mafo Clareisse – Cameroonian
- Sylvie Amatala – Togolese
- Mohammed Jazaw – Burkinabe
- Modesto Forgane – Cameroonian
- Soulemane Biibal – Burkinabe
- Doubo Prince – Togolese
- Ben Kaze – Togolese
According to the Service, most of the individuals have already been repatriated. GIS added that the three Burkinabé nationals are scheduled for deportation by the end of the week.
The Service commended the public for its support and urged citizens to remain vigilant, reporting any suspicious activities involving foreigners in their communities.
Landlords and property owners were also reminded to exercise due diligence when renting to foreign nationals, as harbouring illegal immigrants is punishable under Section 52(1)(b) of the Immigration Act 2000 (Act 573).
“The Comptroller General of Immigration and Management of the Service remain committed to protecting the territorial integrity of the country and ensuring compliance with Immigration Laws at all times,” the statement concluded.
