The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has confirmed the deportation of eight foreign nationals convicted for their involvement in illegal QNET activities carried out in Ghana last year.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Commissioner of Immigration, Maud Anima Quainoo, the Service explained that the individuals were arrested in August 2025, convicted on September 9, 2025, and sentenced to six months’ imprisonment.
After completing their sentences at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison, they were transferred to the GIS Holding Centre in Accra to await repatriation.
The convicted persons comprise three Burkinabé nationals, two Cameroonians and three Togolese citizens. They include Alabe Sanga, Mohammed Jazaw and Soulemane Biibal from Burkina Faso; Mafo Clareisse and Modesto Forgane from Cameroon; and Sylvie Amatala, Doubo Prince and Ben Kaze from Togo.
According to the GIS, most of the convicts have already been repatriated to their home countries, while the remaining three Burkinabé nationals are expected to be deported by the end of the week.
The Service expressed appreciation to members of the public for their cooperation and support in combating illegal activities involving foreign nationals. It also urged residents to remain alert and promptly report suspicious conduct within their communities.
Landlords and property owners were further cautioned to exercise due diligence when renting premises to foreign nationals, reminding them that harbouring undocumented migrants constitutes an offence under Section 52(1)(b) of the Immigration Act, 2000 (Act 573).
The GIS reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding Ghana’s territorial integrity and ensuring strict enforcement of immigration laws at all times.
