Chairman of the Coconut Farmers Association Volta (COFAG) and CEO of Volta Coconut Industries & Resort Ltd, Togbe Dunyo, has launched a 1,000-acre investment project in the Volta Region, urging locals to invest and help create jobs for the youth.

He emphasised that such investments would create jobs for the youth and reduce the migration of young people to Accra in search of unavailable employment.

He explained that 1,000 acres of land has been acquired in the Volta Region, which will be made available to investors.

“The company will manage the project on behalf of investors,” Togbe Dunyo said in an interview.

He added that the initiative aims to leverage government support currently being provided to coconut farmers through the Coconut Farmers Association.

Togbe Dunyo noted that many citizens want to farm but are unable to do so due to location constraints.

“This project comes at the right time. Investment in coconut farming is a lifetime legacy,” he stated.

He further explained that the company will not only focus on plantation development but also process coconuts into oil for export.

Additionally, they plan to purchase coconuts from local farmers in the region for processing.

He urged citizens from the Volta Region and other parts of Ghana to take a serious interest in investing with Volta Coconut Industries & Resort Ltd.

“Investors should consider that the Volta Region is peaceful, land is litigation-free, and the area is galamsey-free. We conduct business according to the laws of Ghana,” he assured.

Togbe Dunyo also highlighted Ghana’s position as the number one producer of coconuts in Africa.

“Everything must be done to maintain this position. Coconut farming started in the Volta Region before spreading to other regions, so we must do everything to regain and strengthen our leadership in this sector,” he said jokingly.
